I like to cook. People ask me why I bother. The people I know who don't cook seem to have an endless string of excuses and
complaints for why they don't cook. They say cooking is too much trouble. It's too much work. They are too tired after a
hard day of work to slave in the kitchen. They complain that they need a lot of fancy and expensive gadgets and cookware to make anything decent.
And of course, so many people today simply don't know how to cook. They never learned how. They never picked it up from their
mother or grandmother, or whoever was the main cook in their family when they were growing up. I work with a lot of people like
that. They seem to subsist on nothing more than Ramen Noodles, Hot Pockets and microwave popcorn. Ugh! If I ever see them eating
anything that looks good, it is invariably left-overs from a restaurant outing the night before. Never anything home-made and
wholesome.
With this web page I want to show people that cooking doesn't have to be a lot of trouble, a lot of work, or take a lot of
expensive equipment. And cooking isn't hard to learn either. In the internet age, recipes for any conceivable meal are just
a mouse-click away. Making a great meal at home is just a matter of following a simple set of directions. I'll also share
my philosophy on cooking, tips on how to make cooking fun and easy, how to outfit your kitchen without spending a lot of money,
and share some of my own personal recipes. Also, cooking has great geek potential. It's endless fun for a science geek like me.
Cooking involves, careful measurements, experimentation, heat-driven chemical reactions,
and documenting your recipes and methodologies. What's not to like? Best of all, you get to eat what you make.
This page is a work in progress. I'll add more to it in the future as my limited time allows.

This is my recipe for home-made soap. OK, I know this is a strange entry on a cooking web site, but it is a recipe, and
cooking is required. You just can't eat it. At least I don't recommend that you eat it. But it is great soap. So if you have any
